The University of New Haven Dental Hygiene Program is accepting applications for part-time
clinical instructor positions. Please submit cover letter, resume/curriculum vitae, and 2

Position Description:
Clinical Instructor positions may range from 1-3 days per week and may include teaching
beginner or more advanced clinical students. Each position is tailored to the program’s needs at
the time of hire. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Qualifications:
The applicant is required to hold an active dental hygiene license in the State of Connecticut.
The applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher to teach in the clinical setting and have
at least 2 years of clinical experience in the dental setting. The candidate must be CPR and local
anesthesia certified.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Review and evaluate patient data, including radiographs, with student and in
consultation with dentist.
2. Answer questions and provide clinical instruction to students.
3. Follow infection control and professional guidelines as required by the University of
New Haven Dental Hygiene Program, federal and state agencies, and accrediting bodies.
4. Remain current with and execute emergency care procedures when necessary, and in
consultation with the clinical coordinator and clinic dentist.
5. Assist in the general care and daily maintenance of the dental hygiene clinic.
6. Assist the clinical coordinator with grading and teaching calibration.
7. Utilize documentation methods established by the program for patient care and student
assessment and complete in a timely manner.
8. Attend department meetings as requested.

Seeking members to volunteer for committee roles with CDHA

 Audit / Financial planning committee:   Each year, new ideas, problems and opportunities come to light for improving the fiscal integrity of CDHA.   This committee meets annually after the fiscal year (Dec1-Nov30) end to assist in making recommendations for improvements of internal controls for cash receipt and disbursement processes, accurate reporting and record keeping, and general financial management.  They perform quarterly spot tests of financial controls and report concerns to the BOT.   They also must become familiar with the activities of our CDHA Treasurer and participate in planning for the Budget committee.   

Budget Committee: Assists in preparing a proposed budget for the coming fiscal year based on budget requests from officers and committees and the current financial status of CDHA

Bylaws, Policy and Procedure Committee: Maintains and updates P & P manual / Delegates manuals needed including additions for newly adopted HOD policies.   Review for inconsistencies.  Candidates for this committee must have excellent attention to detail and strong skills in written communications.

Website management / under Communications Committee:   Updates and maintains information on the website (created via Wix).   Organizes information and resources on the website in an easy to access manner.   Candidates for this committee must have attention to detail, computer/tech savvy, and have an eye for graphics/design. 

Social media management / under Communications committee:   Updates, maintains, and creates content for social media pages – Facebook, Instragram, Twitter, Linkdin, Pintrest.  Monitor other related social media sites for comments and opportunities for promoting CDHA interests.

Fundraising Committee:  Create and coordinate opportunities for income to our general funds and scholarships.   We need to generate money in order to provide services to our members and for our association to be able to function to its best ability.    Candidates for this committee should have fun and creative ideas, experience with event planning and great organizational skills.

Liasson to ADHA IOH:  Promotes ADHA’s Institute for Oral Health fundraising efforts.   Communications information from ADHA regarding IOH activities to CDHA/members.   Candidates should have some computer/tech savvy skills.

Legislative Committee:  Supports efforts to remove access of care barriers, ensures RDH representation in government activities, promotes advancement and protection of the profession via communication and activity with contracted/paid Lobbyists.   Creates and promotes correspondence and testimony for legislators.  Participates in Lobby Day activities at the Capitol.  Candidates for this committee should have good written communication skills and an understanding of the legislative process. 

Nutmeg Annual Session / Continuing Education Committee:  Responsible for organizing all events for Nutmeg Annual Session including House of Delegates, student activities, ConnHyPAC events, President’s receptions, Red Shoe / Mabel Awards Gala, trade show and all statewide continuing education courses.   Maintains a file of potential continuing education speakers.  Selects venues for events.   Manages event registration, set up, audio-visual equipment, and supplies.  Candidates for this committee should have exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, experience in event planning, and computer / tech savvy skills.

Connecticut Mission of Mercy holds mini events and one large event throughout the year, through which free dental care is provided to the underserved and uninsured in Connecticut. Since the first event in 2008, thousands of people have been provided with the necessary dental  and dental hygiene care that have contributed to the betterment of their oral and overall health.

Almost 10,000 volunteers dedicate their time to help children and adults with intellectual disabilities achieve their dreams annually here in our state.
