The Mabel C. McCarthy, RDH Award honors an individual who has promoted dental hygiene in an outstanding manner. In order to qualify, the nominee must be either an active or a retired member of CDHA involved in any area of dental hygiene. A Curriculum Vitae is required along with the nomination. The recipient will be honored at the CDHA Nutmeg Conference.

The Mabel C. McCarthy, RDH Award Criteria: 

​

• Eligibility: Any active or retired member of CDHA with a minimum of seven (7) years of cumulative active membership. May be nominated by a component or an active member of the Association (you may nominate yourself).  

• Criteria: Nominees will be judged on the degree to which they have met the following  criteria. 
  Demonstrate evidence of active involvement with a leadership role in CDHA and local component. 
  Provide evidence of a minimum of ten (10) years of professional dental hygiene  experience.
  Demonstrate leadership or involvement in an ongoing CDHA committee or Council for a minimum of five (5) years, such involvement may be cumulative. 
  Demonstrate leadership as an officer or trustee in CDHA and/or component. Demonstrate involvement in legislation with the intent of advancing the dental hygiene profession. 
  Provide evidence of active involvement in ADHA as a delegate or alternate delegate. 
  Provide evidence of affiliation with other health and/or professional associations. Examples include, but are not limited to: American Public Health Association, Nursing Association, etc. (Additional consideration)  

• Submit: A curriculum vitae to the committee members by components or individual  members. Recommendations will be made by the committee with final approval by the  Board of Trustees.  

• Details: The recipient will be honored at a special Annual Session Award event and will  receive a “plaque”.
   

Components or individual members may submit names of those who they believe are  exemplary to receive these important recognitions.
